I agree --- when Iraq fragments with a civil war into it's constituent parts --- I believe we should support a Kurdish 'mini-state'... just so long as they swear off any extra-territorial ambitions (in Turkey, Iran, Syria, the Caucuses....), and stick with Democracy.
