The cross shouldn't have been there in the first place. "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights..." Then by analogy, Thomas Jefferson's "Creator" shouldn't have been there in the first place (July 4, 1776). On the contrary, there is nothing wrong in mentioning the Creator. However, that Creator is Jewish, Christian, Islamic, Buddhist et al. Why the cross? BTW Thomas Jefferson was a major proponent for the separation of church and state.
