I am merely considering alternatives other than Saddam ordered it hidden (you'd think that it would be found, by now).

One such alternative picture is that a terrorist with an appreciation for the "big picture" might be very interested in obtaining such a large amount of explosives. Its an unusual opportunity - and one that can be planned for. How often does a "master terrorist" get to know that a dictator is about to fall? Surely the store of materials was not that secret.

Given the size of the store, it seems plausible, if not even likely, that disappearance is more than simple looting.

Its also very curious that no use of said explosives has been detected yet. That suggests a plan which involves patience, at the very least.

But we better stop talking about potential uses or motives or strategies, lest Powell in the next Security Council meeting start quoting this thread and holding our words up as "proof positive" that XYZ is planning ABC.
