My source informed me that Kerry got an Undesirable Discharge under other than honorable conditions. An undesirable is awarded by a board action.

That makes sense. Unless they can get at least three of the board members to come forward, I don't think it can be released. I suspect they are all dead. It's really down to the wire now. You see how the MSM is treating the Vietnam material.

President Carter issued the amnesty in 1977, Kerry's case was one of thousands reviewed and he was awarded an honorable discharge on 16 Feb 1978.

Holy $#!t.

That would explain things, wouldn't it?

I've been not all that interested in rehashing the minutia about Vietnam, frankly, because the undispited public facts were enough to turn me against Kerry, and I wouldn't vote for him if you offered me money. [Well, maybe a million but Virginia is fairly safe for Bush. ;^)]

But I have kind of wondered why no release of the records. And why things were altered so long after the fact. And he is a total lying sack of excreta.

So, yes, it makes sense.

uw- never thought of that as a General was the easy way of taking out the trash. An 'Undesireable" is more rare and not a very difficult way of getting rid of the trash too. That would explain the 'board review' and make it as close to a DD as possible without the court martial. I pray the alter boys real info gets out, maybe Sun night!

uw,
I did a little googling:

history.navy.mil

UDCA -- Undesirable discharge, trial by civil authorities
UDDE -- Undesirable discharge, desertion without trial
UDFE -- Undesirable discharge, fraudulent enlistment
UDUF -- Undesirable discharge, unfitness

I think the Swifties in the title, "Unfit for Command" are telling us indirectly what they can not legally say out right. Kerry got a UDUF.

en.wikipedia.org

The United States military subdivides less-than-honorable discharges into four categories, in increasing order of severity:

general discharge;
undesirable discharge;
bad conduct discharge; and
dishonorable discharge.
Undesirable discharges or worse disqualify the soldier from receiving veterans' benefits under most circumstances, and any less-than-honorable discharge - even a general discharge - usually renders the discharged soldier ineligible for unemployment insurance benefits, because such a discharge is considered tantamount to having been "fired" from the most recently-held job.

Good work.

Dammitalltohell, shame it is so late in the game.

Something that bothers me a bit about your theory is that it seems that folks who were looking at Kerry's record in a lot of detail would have picked up on the issue before.

If it becomes an issue now, it's sour grapes, not worth a bucket of warm piss. Too bad.

I have gotten your thoughts to the RNC with instructions to get them ASAP to Tim Griffin, the GOP's bad boy for stuff like this and someone I personally know. He has no public email address, and he's probably busier than hell right now, so there's no guarantee he'll get my message. Keep your fingers crossed.
