there was a vote for A&P and his membership? Interesting. I stuck to a few Canadian threads in my early years and only moved on later. Like I said this thread is actually interesting.

As you know, this wasn't an off-the-cuff thing. I PMed you a month ago or more and agreed to strictly adhere to privacy issues. As it's your site, of course, you can zap it. LIkewise, however, conning people using your site as a PM solicitation avenue breaks a whole lotta more rules than one member who finally came forward to complain about it, discovering a significant portion of your member base had victim of the same thing. Not all of it, over six years was under your tenure, but it still goes on, even as recent as six months ago.

The very nature of the PM vehicle and nature of the conning would make this go unnoticed forever if nobody did anything about it. I stepped up for a hundred unheard voices who didn't know amongst themselves that they existed.

I am not saying that TLC created threads targeting people. I am not aware of that. However, he certainly flamed more than one person who had questionable practices. He wasn't asked to take his flaming off of the site. That is the point.

And stop calling me shirley

Bob, just a thought on this matter.

Would there be any legal liability from removing a thread that could have served to warn other members about possible scams on SI?

I can think of several occasions where an outing of a scam helped members that weren't blinded by the personality of the members running the scam or greed. Remember the "next Walmart" that many members lost their money in? I don't know how many members received calls for investment dollars on that one, but I certainly did. I didn't bite, but did publicly exposed the two individuals pushing the stock. I don't believe either now post on SI. Isn't that a good thing?

Unless, there is evidence that the charges being made are false, I feel the thread should remain.

Hen's teeth
or
Chicanery

The thread in question never did have Jenna's SI name in the title but it certainly was an attack on Jenna, I know I was involved and managed to get a suspension <g>. A close reread of that thread is interesting as many of the comments apply directly to this messy mess and several precedents about conduct may be drawn. Chicken posted PM's from his Inbox, Jenna's real name is still on the thread and the content of the entire thread is/was an attack on Market Gems and Jenna, her contributions to SI and her exploitation of the community for her personal advancement, you can germinate your own predilictions.

The standards to which community members actually adhere are invisible and personal, it is well and proper that we challenge the standards that others hold out on SI. I am going to plant mine right here beside MrB, I would like to know if the Chicken is secretly eating the foxes.

Let me get this straight MrB, a ten foot tall Tyson escapee approached you privately and (I imagine clucking through obviously mangled dentition) convinced you to give him money for hen's teeth ? Perhaps if we shoot his spaceship down he will talk to us, is that what you are thinking ?
