Thanks for your comments - largely as I expected.

China has always had very little influence here, other than their products are everywhere as they are in US.

This is also what I expected to hear - the US will not do anything to overtly sabotage their relationship with Saudi Arabia because China is a willing customer. The resource grab elsewhere in the region will continue ... inevitably as demand outstrips future supply there will be a flash point somewhere.
