Amy, I think the troops essentially get paid by Bush. Don't bite the hand that feeds you, type of thing. They were also paid by Clinton, too, and had to respect his authority via the chain of command, but I don't think many actually liked the former draft-dodger. Reminds me of my very conservative friend from West Point. In his parents home hangs a picture of him shaking hands with then President Clinton during the graduation ceremony. The look on my friend's face was priceless. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the President, and he basically wore a grimace. Tenchusatsu
