"I have no idea what the political winds or his innate self-centered opportunism will lead him into doing."

Could have been said about other presidents, some great, some not. With Bush/cheney/rummy intact and if policy is not changed on iraq and elsewhere, things could get worse too. I published an article regarding truman election in 1948 with this one--things actually got worse for truman and he was forced not to run in 1952. Once elected he did not change his ways. Truman only gained respect later for his war on communist expansion post WW2, but korea was akin to iraq and vietnam. All brought down presidents at some point. mike
PS bush will credit for WOT and afganistan some day but iraq is his vietnam/korea.

"Folks who understand the stakes"

Could you explain what the stakes are?

I hate to spoil your day but this is an endorsement i will have to consider. Much of what he said rings true, particulaly the non-issue stuff like bush looking "out of his depth and exhausted." "Kerry has actually been much more impressive in the latter stages of this campaign than I expected. He has exuded a calm and a steadiness that reassures." Wow.
