Personally, I think AAPL left out the media reader because of the size issue. Perhaps in time we'll get an iPod with a built-in media reader all in the same tiny package. Now, that'll make me pony up for an upgrade.

However, I'm wondering why AAPL didn't rejigger the iPod so that it can be connected to a camera for direct download. I'm assuming of course that most if not all digital cameras have a USB port (like my Olympus, which has a tiny 5-pin port). Since the iPod is already USB savvy, it wouldn't take too much to enable the direct download feature. Then again, it could be a battery issue--not sure how much power it would take to suck in all those images.

Oh well, at least the arrival of the Photo iPod seems to be doing wonders for the stock price.
