Redfish,

If only a third of the things I posit happen, we are in deep trouble, economically and from a domestic terror standpoint.

I'm sorry you don't see it that way, but it seems fairly clear to me.

The clash of civilizations is one in which the time frame is an incredibly long one. We will be in a struggle with Jihadists for a very long time.

Make no mistake about it, they will bring the struggle to the US.

They did so on 9/11 and will do whatever they can to again do something similar.

"I think what we should be doing is making sure that NONE of them are willing to touch us with a ten foot pole for fear of the consequences."

"What they do in the middle east is their business, so long as they don't touch us. To me the middle east is nothing but a big gas station."

2nd quote is one way they touch us. Isolationism just doesnt work.
