RE:"A lot of people claim the US isn't creating jobs. That's false. We're creating more jobs than ever in history. Unfortunately most jobs are going to foreigners working here.

In my county all labor that compensates on average about $30/hr is done by Mexicans, Asians, Russians, you name it. They aren't counted in the job tallies and they do displace the low end American worker."

Sounds about right.

OTOH, what country you from? $30/hr seem a bit high.

What's wrong with a $30/hr wage?

Low end? That would be workers making in the single digits (or teens) per hour. In case you forgot, plenty of folks are raising families on those wages.

As far as the job 'tallies' go, you actually give that some credibility? Oh, i forgot, we have 'inflation' numbers too.

And what's with the immigrant bashing?

The construction company my husband works for tries to hire Americans because it helps when the workers on the site can speak English, but very few apply that can pass the mandatory drug tests. Consequently his Spanish is getting better and better. His guys make anywhere from 15/hour to push a broom to 35/hour for a guy who can handle some tools.

Recently a good friend told me he was desperate for regular work because he is continually sinking in debt. He asked me if I had any ideas. I told him I knew John's company was always looking for guys, they can't keep enough guys on the site and keep running into situations where everyone is working too much overtime. I told him he'd be able to get a decent wage because he has a lot of construction experience and he can speak a little Spanish. As soon as I said that my friend said, "I don't know if I could show up every day at 7am. I'm really spoiled these days." I think I said, "Yeah I guess it's easier to continue paying off your credit cards with new ones."

Yes and in a boom like just occurred you want to make sure you don't purchase any of these crummy poorly constructed homes built in a panic by unskilled tradesmen. Wait till the owners have them for 5 years and everything starts leaking.

The same thing happens in Vancouver BC. Most people ask if East Indians worked on their homes. If so they don't buy them unless they are Chinese who are the stupidist buyers out there.

Only under the corrupt Bush administration would hamburger slingers now be counted as manufacturers for statistical purposes.
