I think the Bin Ladens were perfectly safe in the U.S. and there was no need to fly them out. This family worth hundreds of millions or billions was not at risk of retaliatory violence, it's not like they hang out in south Boston and can't afford a few bodyguards.

I would have kept them in the U.S. indefinitely, but without imprisoning them, and would have considered confiscating most of assets they had in this country or any country we control.

Instead we jail a near illiterate Puerto Rican for years on end without charging him with a crime on account of this sad sack who has spent half his life in prison might have discovered the secret to creating a "dirty bomb" by surfing the net.

"Hit them where it hurts" has never occurred to the Bush administration.
