Yes. But it wasn't. Why? Because Afghanistan was not a war of choice. There were fears of a Russian like disaster, but America had no choice, there was no other option. The American people and the entire world understood that.

Unlike Saddam, there was ample evidence that Osama bin Laden was responsible for the 9/11 attacks. Unlike Iraq where UN inspectors were on the ground, the failure of the Taliban to cooperate left war as the only option.

Jeepers, even the Iranians supported America in Afghanistan.

(The Iranians love us for Iraq, too, but for entirely different reasons.)
