Recently I read statements by the two top officials in Taiwan. Both of them said Taiwan was a separate independent country, not part of China, evidently. For me those idiotic statements rule out Taiwan as a place to invest, now anyway. All they had to say was something like "Certainly Taiwan is a province of China." That could be followed by some statement such as "We look forward to amalgamation of administration with the mainland in due course."
That should be their attitude. Ms. Zhang may not like foreigners to talk about the Taiwan question but we have to make our investment decisions, as we cast about the world for a good place to fish. The decisions benefit from discussions.
