Forgot about the hitler stalin pact. A saddam/bin laden version certainly was plausible even if not long lasting. The same common enemy of all totalitarians are the democratic, pluralist societies who offer a different path from slavery. So why not unite to defeat them? Of course bin laden and saddam would have eventually locked horns. Hell just like we united with the soviets to defeat hitler, we might have one day had the same situation with the iraqis. Just speculation and now certainly a dead issue. mike
