Israeli officials assured the Palestinians on Thursday that if Arafat recovered, he would be able to return to the West Bank, a prominent Israel-Arab lawmaker said. In the past, Israel was unwilling to make such promises.

If he dies though...

I'd refuse to allow the return of the corpse. Bury him in France. I'd be skeptical the Palestinians wouldn't try to disinter him from Abu Dis and sneak him onto the Temple Mount.

If will will notice, there is no mention of any Israeli promise to stay out of the Mukata while Arafat is away. I bet the terrorists holed up with Arafat will be trying to sneak out before he leaves for Paris. Watch for any announcements of their capture.
