Undesirable discharge carries with it definite stigma and other unfortunate consequences, such as loss of veterans' benefits. Glidden v United States (1968) 185 Ct Cl 515.
Military discharge on other than honorable grounds is punitive in nature, since it stigmatizes serviceman's reputation, impedes his ability to gain employment and is in life, if not in law, prima facie evidence against serviceman's character, patriotism or loyalty. Stapp v Resor (1970, SD NY) 314 F Supp 475.

Re: "My source informed me"

Well, until that unnamed 'source' comes forward, this will have to fall into the 'Internet rumor' catagory.

Like I said, the Washington Times looked at this rumor and decided it was false.

Check with them for their reasoning in this matter. (The fact that they are SOLIDLY pro-Bush may help to persuade you... or not. Until there are verifiable facts that surface which disagree, I'll have to go with their analysis.)
