The Republican party managed to hoodwink a record number of American voters. I do no worse under the Republicans than the Democrats, but I do not see how anyone with a social conscience can vote Republican. The Republican party scam is to transfer wealth from poor to rich, but use decoys, such as 'family values' and national security to confuse voters. A huge debt has been established, America is bankrupt, and Bush had a lot to do with it. Tax cuts to the wealthy, isn't this stealing--going into debt to give back to the rich, it makes no sense. My kickback was a few hundreds of dollars, the kickbacks to very high incomes was grotesque--tens of thousands of dollars. For what? Do the rich need to upgrade from Lexus to Mercedes? There was some good commentary the other day, I saw a powerful Pastor in a Hawaiian print shirt explain the whole thing as personal values overshadowing social values. I don't think he even realized that he identified the principal weakness of the Republican party: Some people who vote Republican believe that they are making a more moral choice. What is completely lost on them, is that personal morality is for their God to judge. While on Earth, you are supposed to love your neighbor as yourself and not judge. Of course, I suppose Bush will do a lot of judging when he essentially reconfigures the Supreme court to push his agenda. My wife is against abortion*, I am pro choice. She is Lutheran, I was Lutheran--now I am an atheist. She is a lawyer, I am a public servant. We both respect friends and acquaintances who are gay, though we don't understand it--and we agree that marriage should only be a religious ceremony and government should not have a thing to do with it. That is a tricky point for an atheist, but I'll sort it out one day;-) I have a strong sense that the American worker has been swindled--starting with Reagan voodoo economics, but no matter what happens with the economy, I will likely have my government job. Complicated isn't it? But Rove never wanted my vote. The Bush campaign knows where the easy votes are, and they got them. Smart and scary--some liberals may even smell a whiff of evil. Onward Christian soldiers. A lot of Christians are not at all Christlike. More... I have a net worth of about 1M: The Democrats could put a chicken in every pot, but I will still be eating my steak, and yet I have more respect for Howard Dean, more of a socialist I think, than Kerry, who never seemed a champion of the poor urban voter, but rater the educated elite. As I said, I'm dazed and confused. The only thing I know for sure, is that Bush has got to be the dumbest president of the past 50 years or so. I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, and I sure that Bush is a dullard. (*except in the case of rape or incest)
