Due to popular demand, the Sundance Channel has announced that they will re-broadcast National Anthem: Inside the "Vote for Change" Concert Tour on Saturday, October 30th, 2004 at 6:30pm ET/PT. National Anthem is a television special consisting of behind-the-scenes footage and live performances from the final Vote for Change concert in Washington DC on October 11th. Some of the artists featured in National Anthem are Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Dave Matthews Band, Bonnie Raitt, The Dixie Chicks, REM, Jurassic 5, James Taylor, Pearl Jam and John Mellencamp.

Conceived by a loose coalition of musicians six months ago, Vote for Change was a tour that took place with 37 shows in 33 cities in 12 states over 11 days. The Vote for Change tour was presented by MoveOn PAC with all proceeds benefiting America Coming Together.

Please remember to cast your vote on November 2nd!

BRUCE'S COMMENTS FROM THE WASHINGTON D.C. VOTE FOR CHANGE SHOW:

We remain a land of great promise but we need to move America towards the fulfillment of the promises that she has made; economic justice, civil rights, protection of the environment, a living wage, respect for others, and humility in exercising our power at home and around the world. These are not impossible ideals, they are achievable goals with a strong leadership and the will of a vigilant and informed American people. These core issues of America's identity are what's at stake on Nov. 2nd.

I believe that Senator Kerry and Senator Edwards understand these important issues and are prepared to help our country move forward. America is not always right -- that is a fairytale we tell our children. As John Edwards said, struggle and heartbreak will always be with us. America is not always right, but America always should be true and it is in seeking her truths, both the good, and the bad, we find a deeper patriotism, a more authentic experience as citizens, and we find the power that is embedded only in truth to change our world for the better. That is how our soul as a nation and as a people is revealed. And it is what we are fighting for on Nov 2nd.

So, we've got some work to do between now and election day. If you share our concerns find the best way to express yourself, roll up your sleeves and do it.

Remember the country we carry in our hearts is waiting.

NO SURRENDER by Bruce Springsteen

__________________________________

We busted out of class had to get away from those fools
We learned more from a three minute record than we ever learned in school

Tonight I hear the neighborhood drummer sound
I can feel my heart begin to pound
You say you're tired and you just want to close your eyes and follow your dreams down

We made a promise we swore we'd always remember
No retreat no surrender
Like soldiers in the winter's night with a vow to defend
No retreat no surrender

Now young faces grow sad and old and hearts of fire grow cold
We swore blood brothers against the wind
I'm ready to grow young again
And hear your sister's voice calling us home across the open yards
Well maybe we could cut someplace of our own
With these drums and these guitars

Blood brothers in the stormy night with a vow to defend
No retreat no surrender

Now on the street tonight the lights grow dim
The walls of my room are closing in
There's a war outside still raging
you say it ain't ours anymore to win
I want to sleep beneath peaceful skies in my lover's bed
with a wide open country in my eyes
and these romantic dreams in my head

Select comments by Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh:

<<...I'm one of those people who believes that Bush really did go to war to free the Middle East and turn these nations into democracies. I don't think he went to war for oil primarily or Israel. He went because he has this idee fixe that it was his mission, his crusade to change the Middle East – to turn it into a democratic stronghold of good, well-meaning people who would buy American and support Israel against the Palestinians and keep the oil flowing.

It's idealistic. It's utopian. Is there anything more dangerous than an ideologue who doesn't know he's wrong?

Now, one of the things I've heard from people who found themselves supporting the war is that whether the UN went in or not, the fact is that there was a moral imperative. That Saddam was doing terrible things to his people and suppressing the Shi'ites, violating human rights and so on.

The only problem with that thinking is that it's been more than a year and a half since we went in. And right now, the abuses in the prisons, the bombings, and the attacks, the violence in the country are now being caused by us. Is that a moral position we want to be in? Of course, it is an unintended consequence, but it is still very much a consequence.

If Bush wins re-election, he will bomb and bomb and bomb. He's been doing that steadily ever since the Allawi government was put in place by us. Since June 28, the bombing has gone up exponentially. Bombing, bombing, bombing. Civilian targets, civilian neighborhoods.

But I don't see anyone in the press worrying about it. I don't see them demanding to know how many sorties we're flying – have they grown? Are more bombs being dropped? What's the tonnage? We don't know any of that, do we?...>>
