heterosexuals get to have the benefit of the state sanction of their chosen partnership. The state should be blind to who choses to partner with whom. My opinion is that the gov't should not be sanctioning a religious tradition. That's the job of the church. The gov't should be governing the laws of partnerships between people, regardless of their sexual orientation. By supporting an amendment to the constitution that has a religious bias, it is cementing the church and state, not separating.
