Vaccines don't make money so companies don't make a big effort to produce them, and we end up vulnerable to production problems. We are likely to have enough this year for the "at risk" population -- but if the bird flu hits, there will not be enough and people will die -- why? Same reason why there is not enough vaccine now -- it does not pay and few companies want to bother. Is Bush at fault? Yes. Does he know this? No. He does not seem to know much about most of the things that go on on his watch -- and I say this out of concern for the health, safety and national security of America. He seems to think his job is to smirk, throw out one-liners and swell the federal deficit.
