You are correct, libertarianism is about live and let live. And that is the basic argument for the government staying the hell out of marriage...a religious institution. It is none of my business, or yours, who marries whom. If two men down the street who are living together decide to enter into a life partnership, it has absolutely no effect on my life. They are harming nobody. If the gov'r is using a religious institution to discriminate against a subset of the population, then it is time for the government to either get out of the marriage business and stick with partnerships between people, or to continue using the religious terminology and start including everyone.

I think that your comparison to abortion is specious. I'll expound on that later on today if you want me too. (I am getting ready for a golf tournament, so can't get too deep)
