I don't think that's crazy at all. It's crossed my mind more than once. Maybe he realizes that the scrutiny he and Cheney will come under, IF HE IS ELECTED, will ruin his life. Sioux

Bush is just a shadow president. The actual power behind the presidency is Cheney. Although your speculation is viewed as far-fetched, I think there is a good logic behind it. The person winning this election will have to have a big mop to clean up the mess that Bush has left. Bush has always made a big mess of a venture and have others to clean it for him. What is so different this time? However, no matter how much he wants to quit, the power behind him will not allow him to do so. So far, Bush is the only president who has escaped the curse of elected in 00 (Lincoln, Kennedy,etc). Hopefully the curse ends in 2000.
