Ted, My feeling is that Bush is to us what slavery was to 1860 America........the flashpoint that motivates both sides to raise up and fight.

Bush is just a figurehead. Vote him out of office, and in 2008 you'll have someone else for the left to hate.


Maybe, maybe not. If Bush loses, the GOP will be in a period of transition. It may have to put up a populist like Arnold to win the election in 2008 instead of a neocon and theocrat. And that's because the rest of us will be watching very closely. I think this election may mean the death of the ole GOP....dixiecrats, radical right etc. Of course, if Bush wins, this country is in a heap of trouble.

As for slavery, you realize that the Civil War wasn't even about that until Lincoln issued the E.P. in the third year of the war? Not to diminish the importance of that issue or the wrongness of that institution, but I'd rather not see history revised just for the purposes of political correctness.
