part of the goal is securing the oil reserves of the Middle East, which were threatened by Saddam

That is your opinion but far from trith. Fact: Saddam no longer posed any serious threat to oil producing nations in the region.

Reality: Husayn didn't even have a functioning airforce; could not buy requried replacements for armoured vehicles and tanks destroyed in Gulf War I; could not properly train a military of sufficient size (since a strong and diverse military was a threat to his regime); and air superiority and transit has been effectively denied him since 1991 by the on-going no-fly zone missions.

He was not a threat to any nearby nation (and no threat to the US either).

He was surrounded and effectively defanged.

The rest of your argument presupposes so many things so as to be implausible beyond belief.

I'm not going to argue with you about the assertions you make in that post, we could go round and round forever on them and never reach agreement.

What matters is the future, and I believe that time will show that the past three years of the Bush administration have been a disaster for Israel.

I used to see posts by persons I regarded as "anti-semites," and would instantly disregard them. Why pay any attention to those misanthropes? After all, they are anti-semites.

No more.

Israel gets no free pass from me going forward, and I suspect that I am not alone.
