Bush accepts American politics as it is and deals with it. Kerry denies what it is on one hand but gets down and dirty as the next guy.

So, to answer your question, they're both black on the bottom because they're both in the fire. Bush accepts it, Kerry denies it.

I'd like to see us return to a more gentlemanly politics, if there ever was such a thing.

Maybe I'll take another look at Atlantic. Like you, I read many news sources, including CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, PBS, ABC, Fox, and whatever newspaper is handy. They all try to give the impression that they're fair and balanced. Fox does the best job of it, and they're not coy about their biases like the other ones are.

My principal objection to Atlantic was its intolerably stuffy, nose in the air arrogance. Like it was really particular about whose coffee table it sat upon.
