I think Schilling received pressure from the Red Sox Management and from his agent who probably want him to stay away from the political race.

It's different for Bruce Springsteen -- he works for himself and was the #1 artist on tour last year...Bruce's band took in over $115 Million just from their concert tour in 2003...Springsteen may antagonize a few fans by openly supporting Kerry BUT he doesn't care...He thinks our country needs a new leader and he won't sit still between now and next Tuesday.
