Yours requires more substantiation as raw material costs are higher than that per good working die.

This gives the 2003 cost of an unprobed 300mm wafer @ $2860. I think the price has come down in a year so I believe $2500 is fair. Even at $3065 per wafer the die cost would be only $5.00.

Another die may cost Intel $10 to make, but many are non functional and thus need to be tested. Of those that do work somewhat, many of those can't run within the parameters of any bin. Of those that can be binned, many can't be in a bin that can be sold in today's market. Now what's left is much less than what were started.

You're venturing into areas where you aren't on sound footing. The 612 GDPW is a very reliable number (assuming Intel's yields are as good as AMD's !). If the die weren't able to run "within the parameters of any bin" they wouldn't be good die.
