What makes you think that the Swifties are going to pull a rabbit out of the hat now, after some real pros have tried without success for a very long time?

Only this - few of the so-called 'real pros' have the expertise to comb military records and notice things that are missing or dubious in them. How many reporters have a Naval background? Second, nosing after the missing records will require friends in high places in Naval records - how many reporters have those?

To me, it's quite possible that the Swiftees could find something. But only Rush and Fox will publish it if they do.

Kerry's records have been online for a very long time

Perhaps. But the .pdf files were only generated 21Apr04. Would that be 'very long time'?

Or perhaps they were in some other format prior to that?

How do I know? Look at document info in acrobat. No leap of faith or logic required.
