Granted, that is probably the 30K WPW monster you used in you wafer processing cost calculations. AMD uses $2.4 billion for a 65nm 300mm plant, Fab 36. AMD stated that a 300mm plant costs $2.5 to 3.5 billion ( cpuplanet.com ). The first plants cost Intel more since they were the pioneers in 300mm CPU production. Another article from Google stated that a 300mm fab needs $7 billion of revenue to be profitable: " Semiconductor International - 300 mm Perceptions and Realities ... ... a day passes without a new announcement about the cost or economics of 300 mm wafer fabs: "$7.0 billion dollars estimated revenue to support a 300mm fab," 1 ... www.reed-electronics.com/semiconductor/article/CA326071 - Similar pages " So do try to go to these, hmmm!
