Actually, that's not the case. Up to Vietnam, Republicans were more isolationist, against nation building. During Vietnam, the liberals/Democrats (citizens not politicians) were the first to turn against the war, while the conservatives/Republicans supported it. The parties did a flip on the issue that seems to have stuck.

Now, with the rise of the Neocons, you have the conservative/Republicans way past where the Lib/Dems ever were with regard to reforming the world with the use of military power.

Amy, This woman said that more than 95% of the students at her military school were Republicans. Republicans have always historically promoted war, so it's perfectly natural for military people to be Republican.

But you said that military guys essentially get paid by Bush. The implication here is that they can't get jobs anywhere else, so naturally they'll support actions which will make the military useful.
