Liberals are not usually as crude or violent as right-wing jerks. They are usually better educated, have larger vocabularies, are less likely to be armed, AND probably aren't driving Hummers or monster trucks. So liberals, even angry liberals, are just generally less menacing. There used to be a moderate wing of the Republican party, and also ideological Republican intellectuals, and I always enjoyed debating these people. I am less fascinated with the homophobic ignorant bumpkin faith-based wing of the party, which seems to be prevailing at present.
