The old version was a gsp (Apache/Solaris/Sun) frontend with a proprietary bunch of crap along with it to bloat it more and make it next to impossible for someone not intimately familiar with it to modify. With an Oracle backend.

The new version is ASP.NET (Windoze2K3/Dell) with SQL Server for the backend.

Of course, the whole frontend was written from scratch, and the backend had to be populated via importing, which DTS refused to do on tables with text fields, so I had to write ASP apps just for the imports.

The most surprising part is that though we warned that the site was going down Friday afternoon and would be back up "sometime this weekend", it came up half an hour after shutting down the old one, and most of that half hour was spent doing one last incremental data import. It hasn't been shut down since and has been running at 4-7% utilization on one webserver and one db server, rather than the 3 webservers and 5 or 6 db and other machines it used to run (slowly and unreliably) on.
