Cool article. I've ignored the "Bush Bulge" story until now - but given the credentials of the two people cited in this article its suddenly of interest.

Bush's excuse the other day for his "bulge", carried on TV, sounded forced and disingenuous to me at the time, but without analysis of substance to the contrary I chalked that up to yet another poor performance.

I don't believe Bush headed out to Walmart to pick up an off the rack shirt moments before his debate - not when such an event is going to be one of the most important of his political career. Ever aspect of the man's wardrobe would be gone over to the last detail, including shoelaces.

Anyone who has worn a custom tailored suit and custom tailored shirts would know that Bush is lying. Tailoring makes for a nice fitting package, and Bush's frame certainly wouldn't be stretching his suit unnaturally - not unless a surprise was injected into the mix "here wear this... its a high tech gadget our military uses..."

I wasn't willing to accept that the Bulge story had any basis in fact until these two new data points arrived. Bush's denial and this analysis now give the story some legs.

Probably will be ignored by the mass media but its interesting nonetheless.
