This tendency of Bush supporters to ignore dissonant information

and if you believe any of these 'level of ignorance' factors are differnt between Republicans and Democrats, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you. Polls routinely show that the majority of voters on either side of the line cannot tell their Senator or sort out major positions.
