Here you go: bostonphoenix.com ; He is hardly saying that the US is weak militarily which is what I think you mean. What he was saying in that interview is that Muslims were able to withstand the might of a great world power. He's pumping up the ego of the Muslims. However, he does think we're weak in another way........when it comes to the American psyche. And he's right. We have become too soft......we are unwilling to do what's really needed; to eliminate, or vastly reduce our dependency on oil. We laugh when we hear that the Europeans put a huge tax on gas to discourage usage, and call them bad socialists. We fight tooth and nail against every mass transit or interurban rail proposal. We refuse to acknowledge that this is not longer a sparsely populated nation with open land for miles and miles, and that we have enough oil of our own. We have become corrupted and are unwilling to give up one iota of our standard of living whether it be SUVs or one mile of freeway driving. We are not even willing to fight for our nation.....instead we pay volunteers and hope they do a good job. However, needing a regular oil fix creates problems for us. So we end up attacking nations in the ME. We support gov'ts that are corrupt and repressive. We make deals with nations that lead to American buildings getting hit by planes or blown up by bombs. Oh, were not weak when it comes to nukes or missiles. We have some of the biggest dicks in the world when it comes to that stuff. However, we are weak when it comes to the substantitive stuff. And a clever man like bin Laden can smell it from a mile a way. He comes from the upper classes so he knows their 'softness' and can smell their fear. Yes, he thinks we're weak.......but not in the way of military prowess. So he plays with us......taunts us, showing his superiority to his fellow Muslims by not getting caught, and in turn, becoming a living martyr. And someone like Bush plays right into his game. Attacking Iraq was perfect from bin Laden's perspective no matter how much he complains. It makes him stronger and makes us look stupid. ted
