LPS5 > ROFL ...

I understood that means rolling on the floor laughing -- but yet you are not amused! Beats me how someone can be laughing at something they don't think is amusing? Still, I am ready to learn.

As for the rest of it, I have made my position in respect of what was written perfectly clear. I am not responsible for the contradictions in the alleged bin Laden tape nor can I explain them. I would certainly not ask you to because I know you could not either. Nor would I ask you to explain how someone who was on dialysis three years ago, presumably from serious, if not terminal kidney failure, can remain "hidden" when, indeed, the whole world is looking for him. I might remind you that dialysis is not a procedure which can be carried out in a cave, and certainly not if one expects to live. Yet, bin Laden has succeeded.

I note you do not apply the thoroughness with which you "nit-pick" anything we say on this thread to the virtual impossibility that this tape, presented anonymously to Al Jazeera, could actually be authentic. Indeed, your obvious one-sidedness in dealing with the evidence, or lack thereof, is apparent.

As far as I am concerned, and I cannot speak for Cronkite, an anonymously produced videotape is not evidence that bin Laden is alive. If you, or anyone else chooses to believe it is, then so be it. As with the weapons of mass destruction, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence -- and since neither of us have actual evidence that bin Laden is alive, to persist in debating about a text which could have been written by anyone gets neither of us closer to the truth.

It is, however, obvious that your government chooses to believe that bin Laden is alive and, accordingly, it will use use the tape in furtherance of its "war against terrorism" -- in the same way that it used the non-existent WMDs as "evidence" for its invasion of Iraq. It is also clear that the "confession" by bin Laden on the tape that he did 9-11 is now taken as gospel -- even though such "evidence" would not be admissible in any court of law I am aware of.
