THE ELECTION MODEL

Election Model Projections

If the election were held today, then based on recent state polling, the Electoral Vote Simulation model calculates that John Kerry has a 98% probability of winning an electoral vote majority by a 323-215 margin and 51.3% of the popular vote. Kerry won 4922 of 5000 Monte Carlo simulated election trials.

Based on the average of eighteen national polls, the National Vote Projection model calculates that Kerry has a 96% probability of winning a popular vote majority with 50.66% of the vote.

The base case assumption in both models is that Kerry will win 60% of the undecided/other vote. To gauge the sensitivity of his expected electoral vote and win probability to the undecided allocation, the model is calculated for five scenarios: 50%, 55%, 60%, 67% and 75%.

Domenici alleged those leaders “just don’t get it.”

Flashbacks of Rumsfield talking about the Iraqis, and others in the administration using the phrase. "they need to get it", "they don't get it". That's a great way to win friends and influence people. sheesh. Such a pratronizing phrase, and so indicitive of the attitude of Bush & Co. "little ones, if you just GET IT, you'd agree with me. I I I know what is best and right". I spent some time at Big Mountain on the Navajo reservation in the 80's, and I haven't seen anything to make me think Republicans are interesting in getting it anymore now than they did then. There are things in the land on those reservations that big business wants. That, they do get. It would be incredible if Kerry makes an honest and conceted effort to really bring people to the table. I'm very pleased to hear he is speaking of going in that direction.

The choice for Indian voters, Harris said, “comes down to two words — tribal sovereignty. Kerry gets it; Bush doesn’t.”

Domenici disagrees.

“Many Indian leaders talk about individual sovereignty. Individual sovereignty is already a reality. To continue to try to make it a distinguishing issue between Bush and Kerry is just unreal,” he said.
