Have you ever heard of the time value of money. You're a fool for failing to account for changes in the value of the dollar before comparing apples with apes.

I heard Ed Norton speak recently and he said he had his accountant calculate the effect of the Bush tax cut on his income. The amount of his tax cut alone put him in the top 5% income bracket and he said this was absurd. He said if one were to agree (which he did not) that Iraq was the right war to fight then shouldn't Bush be asking the top earners in this country to make a sacrifice and contribute more taxes to fund it? He said his cousin was a Black Hawk pilot in Iraq and the families back at their base in Naples Italy was holding bake sales to buy the body armor the Army did not have enough to provide to every soldier in the war zone. I didn't know he had a degree in history but besides being a very thoughtful speaker he said when he graduated that Garry Trudeau spoke at their graduation and the thing he really remembered was he said the most important thing you can do is to ask impertinent questions because those are usually the one's that don't get asked and are also usually the questions that need answers the most. Norton said his impertinent question for Bush was why aren't millionaires like myself being asked to pay more taxes if we need to fund foreign wars?
