We're all wannabe pundits discussing areas outside of our core expertise these days. (g)

Look, my assessment is that iraq can still go either way. It all really comes down to a question of wills. Some choose to dwell on what can go wrong and I choose to point out what can go right --- of which there is a long string of example, Afghanistan is the best template to consider.

The battle is not between the US military and the jihadis but between the jihadis and the will of the american public. If the war was between the combatants on the field, my assessment would be more clear.

But because as the jihadis saw off the heads of individuals, there are segments of the US population that will want to back away, I think of the Vietnam days, and then it is obvious that there is a way for this to end badly.
