the world, nations with more economic freedom I don't agree that economic freedom is absolutely tied to political freedom. I think the Soviet Union's economy was destroyed by monopoly industries. That is more likely under when the government owns the industry, but there is no inherent reason that the government couldn't set up competing industries, which is closer to the emerging china model. Conversly a free country can become economicly stagnant if it falls to monopoly control. TP
