While Kerrey does have a lousy record on Defense , please note that many of those votes came after the decline of the Soviet Union. Especially if we are counting since 1988.

How many P-3 Orions are needed when half the Soviet subs can't get out of port ? Navy is now going for a smaller, cheaper aircraft more suited for the coastal threat of diesel subs that China & Iran have.

Lots of those programs were tailored to Soviet threats, instead of new threats.

The B-1 has been a marginal performer.

The B-2 has been great, but at 225 million each...

I would say about 1/3 the items on the list are reasonable votes.

That would still leave Kerrey pretty marginal on defense.

Hope I'm not getting too nuanced here...

Hi Jim,

A question for conservatives.

My wife insists on keeping our subscription to the pathetically liberal San Francisco Chronicle. Jeez I am reading a movie review for a kids film and the author has to find a way to slam Bush.

So I wish to balance this newspaper with some coservative periodicals, since my kids will be reading newspapers soon I will want them to have at least a "balanced" view.

I am thinking Readers Digest and NewsMax magazine.

Would the Wall St Journal be considered conservative??
