And yet, here they are farther ahead of Intel than they've ever been before.

With high end Workstation and server companies like HP, Sun, and IBM using chips from tiny AMD instead of Intel chips for their best systems. While Intel is reduced to copying AMD's designs for ISA and memory.

Despite AMD experiencing "a two year slip" AMD has still managed to break Intel to where all Intel can do is attempt to keep up with AMD.

Did Intel experience a permanent slip?
