I have been telling friends that Kerry will win in a landslide. He will probably get 300-325 electoral votes (this is my latest prediction). This is not my new found optimism. The following was an e-mail I sent to a collegue of mine on 9/9/04. Kerry was down alomst 12 points in the Gallop poll at that that time.

Mark,

I have been working on a paper that is due tomorrow. It is tough going - so, I took a break and looked at NY Times listing of "swing states" and came-up with my own political analysis.

Most likely wins for Kerry: Oregon (7), Nevada (5), New Mexico (5), Minnesota (10), Iowa (7), Wisconsin (10), Michigan (17), Ohio (20), West Virginia (5), Maine (4), Pennsylvania (21) and New Hampshire (4) (total 126)

Possible Kerry win: Missouri (11)

Most likely Bush wins: Arizona (10) and Colorado (9)

If Hurricane Ivan also hits Florida - Bush will lose definitely. Otherwise, it is still a tossup.

My projection is that Kerry will get 305 to 332 electoral votes. (Yes, it will be a landslide.) This is all based on my own voodoo theory of "investment psychology." Of course, I will eat crow if I am wrong.

I am going out on a limb.
