Snopes covered the idea that

"The current flu vaccine shortage is attributable to a lawsuit handled by Vice-Presidential candidate John Edwards."

I agree with Snopes, that probably is false.

But that statement isn't the same as the idea that liability concerns contribute to companies dropping out of manufacturing flu vacciene. Its not the only reason, its not the biggest reason, and probably not the 2nd biggest, but it is a factor. It would be an even bigger factor without some tort reform that did take place in the area of vaccines.
