You are correct that war is inevitable, but in waging war one must correctly identify the enemy, and wage war on him, not on innocent bystanders. Currently the greatest enemy facing American is the neocon cabal that controls the executive office.

I'm not sure that they actually believe that war is avoidable. I think they believe that war must be avoided regardless of the consequences. I think it starts with an irrational belief that if you just shut your eyes and cover your ears nothing bad can penetrate. If that doesn't work, compromise will yield at least a palatable existence. It's only when compromise fails that they might admit that the first reaction was dangerous. Our current generation has not been tested beyond step 1, and the Kerryites are stuck there. It's #'s 2 and 3 that scare me and that's why Kerry should be sent packing to the Socialist Republic of MA.
