"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." Theodore Roosevelt

Imo, one of Bush's principal failures is that he has left the American public "all warred out."

A democracy will not accept "forever wars," so we must choose our targets carefully. Given that it will probably be politically impossible to end the Iraq adventure quickly, I doubt that if, for instance, it should prove beneficial to give Syria or N. Korea, or whoever, a taste of the ugly stick, the American public would support it.

Our military is not like the semi-automatics you see in the movie, where a handgun has an endless supply of ammo (let's see, did he fire 47 shots from that clip, or was it 63?). It is more like a revolver where once you have taken your six shots, you are #### out of luck.
