Raymond, the guy that said the world was round got killed for saying it. Humans can be very intolerant to new ideas. Even good ideas.

Unfortunately change can be very slow - people are stuck with the slower pace others can handle, not the fast pace many of us may want. This is especially frustrating for people like me that are female with a high level of awareness of various aspects where there exists an inequality in our society (e.g. medical gender research - this year was the first year they announced the symptoms for heart attacks for women even though it is the #1 killer of women, only 2% of money is controlled by women, our country never had a female President, etc.)

If we suddenly had a female President (Republican or Democrat), it's possible she could be assassinated by someone and maybe all of us here on the thread would be amazed such a person exists like that in our country. But such people do exist in our country. They hold the country behind.

Regards,
Amy J

Raymond, RE: "When Bobby Kennedy tried to keep hope alive and became a very viable anti-war progressive candidate in the 1968 primaries, he was assassinated by the Right Wing of our government."

No, I don't think he was killed by the RW government.

He was killed by someone from the Middle East.

He was assassinated by a Palestine immigrant that moved to the USA when 12 years old, prior to that he saw towns in his country wiped out due to war. He killed Kennedy because he was obviously a sick person venting out his frustrations over what he perceived was Bobby Kennedy's support of Israel's destruction of Palestine. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, runs too deep.

Thread, cnn.com

"Bin Laden: Goal is to bankrupt U.S."

"We are continuing this policy in bleeding America to the point of bankruptcy. Allah willing, and nothing is too great for Allah," bin Laden said in the transcript.

As part of the "bleed-until-bankruptcy plan," bin Laden cited a British estimate that it cost al Qaeda about $500,000 to carry out the attacks of September 11, 2001, an amount that he said paled in comparison with the costs incurred by the United States.

When Bobby Kennedy tried to keep hope alive and became a very viable anti-war progressive candidate in the 1968 primaries, he was assassinated by the Right Wing of our government.

Wasn't Bobby Kennedy counsel to Joe McCarthy?
