I agree that we should be much better at dealing with the international community than we are at the moment, if only because we are in a unique position to do just that. But I'm not going to accept China's hypocritical comments as proof that Bush's foreign policy is a failure, because China has nothing BUT self-interest in mind. Is that Bush's fault? Only if you believe that a guy like Kerry can make China play nice using more than just good intentions.

I agree.........China is hardly a voice of reason and fairness in this world. However, it is just one more voice added to the chorus.

I am sick of the international criticism but I am even sicker of Bush for putting us this position.

I was going to leave you on virtual ignore until the election; I guess this is close enough.

The art of diplomacy is securing all participants self-interest. It is filled with nuance. That's how you build consensus, that's how you make things happen in an international political and economic marketplace. And that's how you get results without a lot of folks dying (usually).

It's Bush's weakness; it should be Kerry's strength (his father was a diplomat).

If we can get the same (or better) results with words rather than bombs, I assume you would agree that was a good thing. If we can get the free world back on our side, rather than against us, I assume you would think that was a good thing.

The Neo philosophy is to dominate the next century through US military aggression. A lot of folks have tried that and failed, with dire consequences for their population. It usually marks the end of eras.

It appears, at least to me, that things are getting worse in the world; for America. Don't you think it's prudent to at least try to get along... to give diplomacy a chance? To try to build a consensus?

It's only 4 years.

John

This is not just about China. This is a internationally pervasive problem and that's a documented fact. The world is praying that this man lose today.

...because China has nothing BUT self-interest in mind.

Duh?
