That was true in the past. Today they fly down from NYC & Boston for $49. Many that don't fly are driving and stopping further north in high growth areas like Palm Coast, Port St Lucie and Palm Bay instead. Interesting to see how all this plays out. Everyone says Florida is the next California but I totally disagree. Florida's climate is too hot and humid, it is way too blue collar, economy too dependent on housing and tourism and limited opportunities for the educated so a large brain drain from the state. Also California has only 150-200 miles of actual useable coastline so the smaller towns have a much more eccentric feel like a Newport or Martha's Vinyard. There are way too many trashy beach towns in Florida.

<When you consider Palm Beach and Broward have a lifeline (I-95) to certain large cities in the NE it's no wonder they vote Dem>
